Don’t let your garage make your home an easy target

If your garage is connected to your home, you need to make sure that it is secure. When it comes to home security, not many people give their garage a second thought, but if you aren’t careful, a garage that isn’t properly secured can be a huge weak point in your home’s security. Luckily, our garage door service experts in Brighton are here to help. The following is a list of security tips for your garage:

#1. Keep your remote some place secure.

If you leave your vehicle in your driveway with your garage door remote visible, you are giving burglars easy access into your home. Keep your garage door in your purse, your pocket or somewhere hidden in your vehicle, like in your center console or your glove compartment. Better yet, exchange your remote for an external keypad and make sure that you reset the code!

#2. Secure the door between your home and your garage.

If the door between your home and your garage doesn’t have one already, install a deadbolt. That way, if someone does manage to get into your garage, they won’t automatically have an entrance into your home as well. It is also a good idea to make sure that the door is as strong and sturdy as your front door. It should be made of reinforced steel or solid-core wood. You can also add in an Anti-Kick device to add even more security.
