Proper storage is a must if you want your tools to work properly next summer.

With winter in full swing, many of us have already started storing the tools we use the most throughout summer. However, storing doesn’t just mean shoving them in a corner in your garage and forgetting about them for the next several months. If you want your tools to work properly, you have to store them properly. In our last blog, our garage door repair experts in Brighton went over a couple of storage tips for your summer tools. Keep reading to learn more:

#3. Drain or add a preservative to your fuel lines.

The ethanol in gasoline can start to break down in cold weather, which actually prevents the fuel from combusting properly. If you decide to store your tools in your garage, it’s a good idea to either drain the fuel lines or add a preservative to your fuel to keep it properly blended and protected.

#4. Keep yourself organized.

Now that your tools are cleaned and prepared for storage, you need to figure out where you want to store them. Don’t forget that, because it’s winter, you are going to need your winter tools, like your snow shovel, so you may need to make some room for your summer tools. Hooks and shelves are some of your best friends for creative and safe storage. Not only will hooks and shelves keep your garage organized, but they’ll also keep your tools away from the ground, where they could pick up dirt and grime.
